Change is always welcome – especially the change of a mattress. An old mattress just ceases to be “it” – and loudly so.
It screams into your sleep comfort, your back and just outright tells you it’s time for change. Getting this change without having to break the bank would be a most amazing thing.
Where does one begin?

The Nectar Mattress has that cozy memory foam feel for those who love that kind of traditional feel.
This mattress is quite firm but has that magnificent memory foam cover carefully quilted over it to give it a steady yet comfy and luxurious top layer.
Memory foam is known for its ability to just soften and sink in a bit especially after it has warmed up as a result of one’s body heat.
It however still gives a great hold and firm enough support. With Memory Foam, there are no in-betweens.
It can either be a deal sealer or deal breaker based on ones preferences.
The mattress however has two main strengths that we will delve into detail as we proceed with this review.
These are the fact that it has the ability to minimize motion transfer and also its wonderful cocooning surface.
The Nectar mattress has quite the trial period with a record 365 nights and a lifetime warranty.
This sounds like a promise made in heaven, doesn’t it?
The important thing to note and consider when making your buy is that mattress companies will give warranty that accounts for the wear and tear which happens over time.
Ones focus should be more on what the build of the mattress is rather than the trial period and warranty which more often than not will be to draw you in.

Tuft and Needle have been able to make their mattress (from raw material to finished product) all here in the United States – without compromising on quality or brand.
Their foam, covers and finishing touches have all been done in America.
This mattress brand has definitely caught the eyes of many around the world – and we are not surprised because its price is wallet friendly but this does not mean that the product is cheap. Not at all.
They have taken great precision in the quality of this product ensuring that no shortcuts are taken when it comes to comfort.
In this particular review, we focus on their original mattress.
With time as expected, a lot of great changes have been made to mold into various needs and demands.
There are however those that still go for this original mattress because they enjoy its comfort and are wowed by its cost effectiveness therefore they have not faced it out, even with the emergence of many other models.
Let’s get into the ring and bring these two mattresses together.
Which one is better?
We looked at a few points as laid out below.
- Quality Materials – Tuft & Needle
- Conforming Comfort – Nectar
- Shipping & Delivery – Tie
- Price – Tuft & Needle
- Sleeping Cool – Tuft & Needle
- Edge Support – Tie
- Motion Isolation – Nectar
- Supportive Comfort – Tuft & Needle
- Warranty & Trial Period – Nectar
- Coupons – Nectar
And the winner is (drumrolls please) – Tuft and Needle.
The first impression you get when you look at these two beds is that they are the same.
One can even quickly pick the Nectar mattress because it has a third layer which makes it look more comfortable than the Tuft & Needle.
The difference however comes in the detail.
Upon taking a closer look at the Nectar mattress placed beside the Tuft & Needle, we saw (based on the various quality pointers we’ve learned over time to base our judgments on) that the Tuft and Needle had a better feel overall than the Nectar mattress.
These two beds present a different comfort feel when compared.
This is solely at the discretion of the buyer because it is their comfort that matters and determines which one to take.
It is agreeable that there are some customers who will prefer the Nectar mattress and rightfully so because when it comes to one’s comfort and sleep needs, it’s important to go for what suits you.
Please read on to see why we choose either of the mattresses in the various pointers we look at.
Materials to make nectar vs tuft and needle mattress
Nectar Mattress
The mattress is mainly the memory foam, and has 3 layers.
A firm base that supports two layers of memory foam – one for support and the top layer cover (a quilted cover which provides a cushy cozy effect) that is mainly for comfort.
This Nectar mattress is 11” in thickness and has a top Tencel cover that absorbs heat and is bedbug resistant.
It is good to also note that one great aspect in the build of this mattress is that its top layer has been ingrained with intercooling get which helps in neutralizing the temperature.
This is a win because memory foam as we know it absorbs heat and that can make it quite uncomfortable especially on warmer nights.
Tuft & Needle Mattress
Tuft and Needle have kept comfort nice and simple.
Two layers is what they’ve got and you are ready to have some of the most comfortable nights sleeping on it.
The bottom layer is a 7” in thickness base made of pure supportive base foam. Now that’s quite the core isn’t it? On top of this base is the 3” top later that is carefully infused with graphite.
The graphite helps in absorbing the heat such that the person sleeping is in every way comfortable. Its versatile top cover can dry faster than cotton. 6-8 times faster.
This is perfect in ensuring that the person sleeping remains dry. That’s all round comfort throughout the night. How convenient.
Nectar mattress vs tuft and needle comfort
Nectar Mattress
The reason you do away with one mattress and get another is spelled COMFORT.
We can’t emphasize on how very crucial this is in considering a mattress.
For the nectar mattress, considering that they use the memory foam, there is not much responsive effect from the mattress.
It somewhat sinks into your sleep position and you might not be able to move around much. The feeling like one is in a cocoon.
It is good to note however that not all are the same especially with advancing technology. They have continued to evolve.
This particular Nectar Mattress has a combination that gives a firm feel.
This will attract people who prefer to sleep on their stomach or on their backs. For those that love to sleep on their side, this might not be a suitable option.
Tuft and Needle Mattress
This Tuft & Needle has a feel that is medium firm.
It has more pressure and support making its hold slightly better or more suitable for those who love to sleep on their back or on their side.
Its lumbar support in comparison to the Nectar mattress is way better.
A note on this to people who mostly sleep on their side is that in as much as the Tuft and Needle mattress is better in support that the Nectar mattress, it may still not be the ideal mattress for those that mainly sleep on their side.
There are different options available. For the sleep needs of those that prefer to sleep on their side, the Tuft and Needle does not quite fit because it only has a single comfort layer on a huge base of core.
For back and stomach sleepers, this mattress allows you comfortable sleep because it gives just enough without making you feel “sunk”.
This mattress is also nicely high and its foam adapts faster than the one in the Nectar mattress to allow you great support. For all these and with such a cost friendly price, it’s a winner!
Packaging and delivery
Two things come to play when we look at this aspect of packaging and delivery.
The quality of the foam and the length of time in which the mattress is compressed or packages awaiting a buyer.
Why is this important?
Well, you may have noticed upon opening your previous mattresses to set up that there was a smell emitted from the same.
This is called “off gassing” and is caused by these two factors just mentioned. The quality of the foam and length of time it’s been compressed and packaged.
It is good to note that this is a hard one to escape unless the mattress is made upon order which some companies are opting to do now.
The Nectar bed is packaged in China and then shipped to the United States. It is then distributed in the many holding areas available.
Upon ordering, it will not take long to get to you.
The consideration however should come in how long it’s been compressed to have come such a long journey which could attract some of these fumes.
The Tuft & Needle on the other hand is made in the United States and saves one the process that is compressing to ship for long distances.
When it comes to the foam used in both products, the quality is safe and is duly certified by CertiPUR-US.
To this certification, Tuft & Needle have certification from GREENGOLD Guard and an Intertek’s Clean Air certification to stamp that any smell emitted is not from harmful chemicals but is safe.
Best price for Tuft & Needle vs Nectar mattress
When it comes to finding a great bargain, these two mattresses are it.
Whether it’s a “larger than life” California King bed or a nice small bed for the kids rooms or even guestrooms, the prices of these mattresses are definitely worth you attention.
When we compare different mattresses, usually the more expensive one takes the cake as far as comfort is concerned.
Well, not today. When it comes to cost, Tuft and Needle which is our winner today is way less costly than the Nectar which is also low cost for a good mattress.
The prices listed don’t include any promos and there may be coupons that can give bigger savings to their already low price.

Cooling properties of both mattresses
This is the challenge most if not all foam mattresses face.
The foam absorbs heat and they are not very well structured, one can find themselves stuck in very many warm, uncomfortable nights.
For the Nectar mattress, a gel infused layer comes a top in order to help with cooling.
For the Tuft and Needle one however, three main steps are combined to give the perfect heat control and cooling ability.
The first is that they have a graphite infused layer. The graphite is key as it helps in drawing the heat away from you to ensure that you are cool as you sleep.
The second step is that they have infused a cooling gel in one of their layers which is perfect in heat dispersion.
The thirst step is that they have a tactic called the “open cell technology”.
This simplified is that the mattress has airspaces in its foam where the heat can escape from giving the foam perfect airflow to be cool.
This genius workmanship is what makes the Tuft and Needle a winner in this particular category.
Just so we can be on the same page, this review is based on the comparison between these two mattress options.
If sleeping cool is high on your sleeping needs, we would definitely direct you to a different product all together.
Tuft and needle vs nectar mattress edge support
In this area, foam mattresses do not perform very well – not as well as they look like they can.
Most do not have the firm hold that one would need especially if they use the edge of the beds to sit for long hours – e.g. like a chair.
Both these mattresses allowed for comfortable sleep right to the very edge.
They however did not have much support if one wanted to sit or sleep a long while around the edge.
For people that may weigh 200lbs and above, this mattress options would not be very comfortable in giving the firm support needed.
The edge support would be just fine however for the price it comes in at.
It would probably be a good idea to look through different options especially those with coil system technology in their build or a better perimeter.
Movement and Motion Transfer
Foam mattresses are great when it comes to motion transfer because they highly prohibit vibrations made when there is movement.
As with the build of these mattresses, they are large on memory foam which like the other types of foam is great at limiting vibration movement to ensure peace and comfort.
If any of them had a hybrid build where springs are involved, this would largely be a section to warn against them especially for anyone who loathes the interruptions that come with movement while they sleep.
Thankfully none of them are hybrid and we can confidently say that both these mattresses are a winner when it comes to curbing motion transfer.
Having to choose one would be quite the task but if we had to make a choice for which one wins, it would be the Nectar because of its great composition of the traditional (original) foam used to make it.
This memory foam is quite “the king” as far as limiting motion transfer is concerned.
Trial Periods and Warranty
It is important to note and consider when making your buy is that mattress companies will give warranty that accounts for the wear and tear which happens naturally over time.
Ones focus should be more on what the build of the mattress is rather than the trial period and warranty which more often than not will be to draw you in.
With that, the Nectar mattress gives a 365 day trial period and “lifetime warranty”.
While it is evident that such a warranty shows the much confidence they have in this mattress product – which is a good thing it would be good however to check the fine print of these terms before making the purchase.
The Tuft and Needle like most mattress companies in the United States of America give a 100 trial day period – which we feel is more than sufficient and a 10 year warranty on the mattress which again is good enough.
The fact that everything about Tuft and Needle is done right here in America should give you the confidence you need in acquiring this mattress.
They also have room for free return if needed which just goes to seal a great package in an even greater way.
Nectar vs Tuft & Needle mattress – which one is better?
Overall, both these mattresses have great online magnitude with both having numerous purchases due to their cost effectiveness and their slimmer profile for an all foam mattress. They are both quite the appealing choice.
We found however that the Tuft and Needle is definitely a better option for us after trying them both out.
This could be because its production and assembly all happens in the United States and its various certification which is also a great confidence booster in what you are procuring.
When it comes to comfort, the Tuft and Needle gives better pressure relief and support in comparison to the Nectar whose memory foam build causes it to sink in to make one feel cocooned and restricted to move about freely.
The Tuft and Needle also boasts a great lower price in comparison to the Nectar mattress and you can still make greater savings by clicking on these coupons to retrieve your promotion offers.
